If your ex has asked you to leave him or her alone, do it. I realize this seems contrary if you want reconciliation. You are thinking that if you go away, he or she will forget about you. If you spent any significant amount of time with this person, it's highly unlikely. Give your ex time to miss you and yourself time to figure out what happened; what went so terribly wrong.


While you're taking a break and figuring things out, discover new things about yourself. There are hobbies you can try or go back to school. You may be asking yourself how these things get your ex back and they all help. For one thing, begging and pleading we know didn't work for you. We know that not only didn't the act of begging not work for you, but it's probably a symptom of a larger problem; neediness and dependence. These are not attractive qualities in a person. Independence and high self-esteem are very sexy qualities, whether you are a man or a woman. Taking up a hobby will have you relying on yourself as you learn something new and it also keeps you from displaying characteristics that are displeasing to your ex.

How soon is too soon? If you want to contact your ex to see if he or she is still there, it's still too soon? This means that you are still obsessing over your ex and not making significant strides in rediscovering the person inside you. We all get to that "itchy" stage where we want to call or just check in. Don't do it. It's best to delve deeper into your hobby. Before long you'll get really good at it and little by little you'll become this independent person that YOU would be proud to show your ex. But remember, your goal is not only to get your ex back, but to rediscover the person that was lost when you became needy and dependent.
