Convert Video Clips for your ipod

To convert an existing video file into iPod-playable material, you need to first open your iTunes library. Then add the videos to the library by drag-and-drop method into your iTunes library window. Choose the files for conversion then right-click your mouse to open a new pop-up window where you select the 'Convert Selection to iPod'. The selected files will be automatically converted to iPod-playable format. The conversion status may be viewed through clicking 'Source' and afterwards 'Converting Songs'.

Two files of the same video now exist in your library. You can check which is which by viewing their Properties and see the 'Date Added' column. If you wish you can delete the old file and retain the iPod-ready file, or you can keep both. Either way, you can transfer the new files to your iPod and make them viewable anytime and anywhere of your convenience or pleasure. You can do this to as many files you can cram into your iPod storage.

To convert videos using iTunes choose the video and select Advanced> Create iPod or iPhone version. Follow the instructions. When using QuickTime player, choose the share>iTunes and select the iPhone/Ipod version. The video will be automatically changed to iPod playable format. Additionally, of course, there are many third parties who have videos for iPods and you can download them as well.

So you now have your favorite videos viewable in your iPod and you can enjoy them as you want. However, it must be noted that iPods and iPhones cannot play videos that are in high definition (HD) formats, only in standard definition (SD). But if you purchase videos from iTunes, your purchase should include both an SD format video for your iPod/iPhone and an HD format for the video player or computer.
